St Andrew’s Healthcare, the charity which runs St Andrew’s Hospital, off Billing Road, is constructing a new building to house a range of services including those for people with learning disabilities, Asperger’s syndrome, brain injuries and hearing problems.

The building – called William Wake House – is set for completion in December and the charity hopes to employ about 400 staff there, almost a sixth of its current workforce, by December 2011.

Rachael Jackson, the hospital’s director, said: “The charity works closely with the NHS and this latest impressive facility here at Northampton will provide some of St Andrew’s most specialist services to date.”
