McLean-based Capital One Financial Corp. will be laying off 179 people in Laurel and an undisclosed number of people in Bethesda beginning July 1 and moving the jobs to Plano, Texas, as part of a cost cutting measure. The credit card company and bank is moving the bulk of its mortgage servicing and default operations and some of its mortgage originations work to Texas to “take advantage of available capacity and technology” at its Plano facility.
