Chrysler CEO Sergio Marchionne announced plans to hire an additional 1,080 employees, as the Detroit plant expands to a second shift this summer. Those jobs — the first hiring under the new United Auto Workers agreement calling for lower wages for new hires — may mean additional jobs at Chrysler’s Kokomo transmission plants, as well.
